Thymus vulgaris (Garden Thyme) is a member of the mint family. Thyme was originally grown in the Southern Mediterranean but can now be found in herb gardens across the world. The herb has been used since ancient times for its fragrant aroma and medicinal and therapeutic properties. Thyme has commonly been used as a skin poultice and salve.

Thyme has many active compounds that may boost its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
